Research Question:How did Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, via his protest and boycott against the 1968 Olympics, progress the Civil Rights and Black Power movements and change the role of the Black athlete in American society?

Thesis: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, basketball superstar at UCLA, used his strong sense of justice to fight against the inequality of his government by refusing to play in the Olympics, establishing that the public figures of the African-American community would no longer accept the discrimination their people faced.
